Child Care Specialist

CHILD CARE SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION The Child Care Specialist is responsible for supervising and engaging children with developmental and physical disabilities between the ages of 3 and 21 years. We are looking for someone with flexible hours including early am/afterschool hours and availability for Friday/ Saturdays preferred. Mission Statement: Lil’ Friends is dedicated to helping kids with developmental and physical disabilities. We provide parents and caregivers periods of rest while children are taken care of in a safe and fun environment. JOB DUTIES The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all Child Care. Specialists at Lil’ Friends, LLC. The duties listed below provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of the position. ● Leading child care activities ● Charting and maintaining child care records ● Providing behavior management and support ● Communicating with parents daily ● Signing up for and completing household duties, including cleaning up after snack times, laundry, vacuuming, and others ● Supervising volunteers ● Maintaining confidentiality ● Administering medications (once required training and delegation has occured) ● Completing all necessary trainings in a timely manner ● Assisting with other duties as needed KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS: ● Skill in assessing and prioritizing tasks and demands of the job ● Skill in the critical thinking needed for the job ● Skill in establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with co-workers as well as patients and their families/caregivers ● Skill in assisting families/caregivers with resources as applicable MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ● Must be a reliable and engaged team member who values communication ● CPR Certified ● Early Childhood Teacher or certification preferred but not required HOURS AND TIME OFF ● Flexible hours including early am/after school hours and Fri/Sat preferred ● Additional hours available during summer camp starting in June ● Time off must be approved in advance by a Director Please note: This job description is not an offer of actual employment and does not constitute an employment contract or agreement.
