A diverse, qualified, and engaged talent base is the key to our success.SummaryThe Operator 2 Blast position prepares the railcars to be blasted, operates advanced equipment to blast the interior and/or exterior of manufactured rail cars and repairs poor blast work to meet required customer specifications. Pulls and scotches rail cars, as required.Duties And ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.Connects railcars to rabbit device to pull railcars into automatic blast equipmentOperates advanced automatic blast machine to blast exteriors and/or interiors of railcarsSuits up on hood, coveralls, and gloves to perform touch up hand blasting of railcars after the automatic blastingPulls and scotches rail carsTrouble shoots, maintains, and cleans blast equipmentEnsures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintainedPreps cars for paint and blastQualificationsThe following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.Minimum QualificationsAbility to be fit-tested and wear a respirator in the areas where respirator use is requiredAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsPreferred QualificationsHigh school education or equivalentBlast machine experienceWork Environment And Physical RequirementsWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
