Community AssistantThe NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system's 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of NYC. DEP's Fleet Services Division oversees the purchase, use, maintenance and management of DEP vehicles, special equipment and related services. Fleet Services also monitors compliance with NYC Fleet and Vision Zero mandates, fuel and E-ZPass rules, parking and traffic regulations, and driver safety initiatives. The Fleet Services team provides complete life cycle management (design / build, distribution / maintenance, and relinquishment) of approximately 5,000 pieces of equipment throughout the 5 boroughs and NYC's unique watershed. Under the direct supervision of the Fleet Services Specialist, the selected candidate will perform the following tasks:Provide customer service for external/internal fleet service clients.Help organize special events and respond to emergencies when needed.Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for internal Fleet Service processes.Assist in the preparation of scheduling delivery/pick up of DEP vehicles/equipment for repairs.Assist in processing DMV registrations for the agency's vehicles.Assist in data entry and reporting; update and maintain records as well as prepare fleet reports and analysis using computer systems (ie: Fleet Focus vehicle maintenance system and Geotab).Manage and maintain E-ZPass system including processing invoices, payments and following up with vehicle coordinators.Promote vehicle best practices and sustainable fleet initiatives.Minimum QualificationsThere are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
