REGISTERED NURSE - Transitional Care Unit / Rehab- Per Diem

JOB DUTIESReports pertinent observations, changes, and reactions regarding residents to the appropriate person (physician, manager, supervisor, etc.) Records these observations, changes and reactions accurately, concisely, and legibly.Plans, implements and documents health teaching with resident and/or significant other.Assesses the resident's condition and nursing needs. Based on those conditions and needs, develops and implements individual plan of care with revisions as resident's condition and needs change.Maintains the standards of nursing care within the guidelines of the nursing department.Demonstrates knowledge of and implements policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing department.Directs, supervises and evaluates nursing care provided to the residents and administers direct care, by using professional nursing skills and judgments as required - maintains skills in the assessment, treatment and care appropriate to the unique needs of residents for whom they care.Assists physicians with resident rounds, procedures, and exams.Transcribes physician orders accurately and legibly.Administers medications, including IV's according to hospital policy and procedure.Demonstrates cost-conscious use of supplies; maintains equipment in a clean and safe manner.MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREDProfessional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited School of Nursing. Specialty units may have additional requirements according to their policy.Current State Nursing License or having made application for licensure or temporary Practice Permit.BLS required.Per Diem (PD) Employee GuidelinesWork Hour LimitationLeadership acknowledges that Per Diem (PD) employees are not permitted to work in excess of 1,820 hours per calendar year.Scheduling Requirements for Applicants Seeking Extended HoursPD applicants requesting to work more than 24 hours per week shall be required to fulfill one weekend per month or two weekend shifts per month, as determined by the operational needs of the unit. Additionally, such employees will be scheduled for two holidays per year, rotating between winter and summer assignments.Traditional Per Diem CommitmentApplicants seeking a traditional PD schedule (approximately 16 hours per month) must commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week, or an equivalent of 16 hours per month. Final approval of this arrangement will be at the discretion of the hiring manager.Experience PreferenceA minimum of two years of nursing experience is preferred but not required. The hiring manager will determine eligibility based on the applicant's interview performance and relevant professional experience.Equal Opportunity Employer
