Position Summary Accounting Technician 13712 DDC - Glendale, AZ Job Description:Under direct supervision of the Finance Manager, calculates, reconciles, and verifies financial transactions. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.Essential Duties & Responsibilities Receives, reviews, and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating financial transactions. Reconciles and processes daily credit card batches. Downloads daily bank transactions to verify wire and bank transfers are posted correctly. Maintains 11-C excise tax for the Keno department and ensure tax payments are made on time. Maintains and ensures tax payments are made on time and reconciles W2G tax deposits. Photocopies, collates, distributes, and files documents for the accountants. Prepares journal entries and bank reconciliations. Prepares outgoing correspondence, including emails, faxes, and memos; creates spreadsheets and enters information into databases to meet reporting requirements. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required. Assists with month end financial close as needed. Assists with yearend audit as needed Handles all phone calls and inquiries from guests. Performs other duties as required.Job RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED plus two years accounting or bookkeeping experience with six months computer-related work; or equivalent combination of education and experience. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license and to include the following.Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, And Certifications Knowledge of the functions and structure of Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise. Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounted Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in English and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must demonstrate outstanding guest service at all times. Ability to maintain accurate records and filing systems and maintain confidentiality. Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds, team members and officials. Ability to work independently and efficiently under stressful conditions, makes solid decisions, and exercise independent judgment. Ability to meet strict time lines. Ability to interpret policies and procedures. Skill in using computerized accounting software programs, office equipment including 10-key adding machine, and word-processing and spreadsheet programs, proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The team member frequently is required to walk; stand; and talk or hear. The team member occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Work EnvironmentWork is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Some work is performed in a Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a moderate noise level. Evenings, graveyards, holidays and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
