Healthcare Drafter, Long Beach, CA, USDRAFTERPURPOSE: The contracted temporary staff serves as a Drafter who works with the Engineering Service, Projects Section Reporting ultimately to the Chief of Projects & Construction Management, the Drafter supports and assists the Contracted Temporary Staff Architect to develop deadlines, overall objectives, resources available and tasks necessary to complete the work. The Drafter is responsible for assisting the Contracted Temporary Staff Architect with site documentation of campus buildings and all utilities into AutoCAD, Revit and ZLink format. The completed work is reviewed by the Contracted Temporary Staff Architect in terms of effectiveness in meeting all requirements.Duties And ResponsibilitiesDRAFTER SERVICES: The Contracted Drafter will be relied upon to assist the Contracted Architect and VA Architect to create and execute appropriate drafting services for varied spaces throughout the campus, including providing plans, reflected ceiling plans, and elevations in AutoCAD, Revit and other visual software including ZLink. Performs administrative or professional work involving supporting documentation management, administration and supporting services related to the operation and safety of Federal facilities. Responsibilities and tasks shall be assigned and directed by the Chief of Projects & Construction Management in conjunction with the contracted Architect.The Drafter shall be highly proficient in preparing detailed AutoCAD and Revit designs, plans, sketches, perspectives, color schemes and any visual aids for proposed design presentations. This involves analyzing architectural drawings and developing AutoCAD and Revit Furniture, Fixture & Equipment (FF&E) plan layers, which have provided systems and components of building codes, major equipment, materials, placeholder furnishings and traffic patterns. The Contractor must interpret, and review provided architectural plans for concurrence to the VA’s Technical Information Library (TIL), standards and specifications as used for the basis of current construction and procurement package development.The Drafter maintains in good order the Drawing Room includes drawings, plans, project binders relating to various design and construction projects. Drafter shall also assist in the management and updates of all drawing documentation maintained in AutoCAD, Revit format and ZLink. Performs other administrative duties as assigned; such as; administering day-in-the-life scenarios, move plans, creating schedules and attending project meetings.The Drafter will be responsible for reviewing and identifying existing drawings for incomplete or inaccurate information and discussing with the contracted Architect, bringing any concerns to the attention of the Chief of Projects & Construction Management to discuss resolution and how best to document this in the drawing files.When a move or minor construction has been completed, the Drafter is responsible for documenting this change and coordinating with Interior Design staff and contracted movers to properly document the completed space in AutoCAD and Revit.Follows basic working knowledge of Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standard (ABAAS), VA Barrier Free Design Guide, VA Technical Information Library (TIL), International Code Council (ICC), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), International Fire Code (IFC), Life Safety.COMMUNICATION: Routinely coordinates activities with such services (Stakeholders) such as Contracting, Logistics, Environmental Management Service (EMS), Office of Information Technology (OI&T), Material Management, end users and Engineering. The Drafter is responsible for assisting with the creation and maintenance of the documentation schedule supporting the contracted Architect and reporting the information to the Chief of Projects and Construction Management.Qualification And ExperienceMust have a minimum of five (5) years’ Commercial Drafting experience.Must possess an associate’s degree in engineering Drafting or a bachelor’s degree.Must have the knowledge of healthcare design and the understanding of fire codes, life safety codes, building codes, barrier free design, systems, compose cleaning and maintenance concepts, ergonomics and safety criteria.Must have the ability to review and interpret blueprints and specifications. Drafting assignments require comprehension of the detailed characteristics of item being designed and association with accepted design practices.Must be skilled in free form drawing and drawing to scale when on a job site measuring for a project.Preferred certifications such as, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Des Expertise with recommendations for the selection, specification, procurement, placement of furnishings.Preferred Certifications In Leadership In Energy And Environmental Design.3 years of AutoCAD, 3 years of Revit, and 1 year of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook) are required.Microsoft Project & Microsoft Teams are beneficial but not required.Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with a variety of contractors, management officials, vendors, Contracting Officers at Long Beach staff and meet stated deadlines.
