Ryerson offers a dynamic, quality-focused, environment, ideal for advancing your career and making your mark in the metals industry.As a Machine Operator at Norlen, a Ryerson family of companies, you will be responsible for setting up and running machinery in the welding department.Roles And ResponsibilitiesWill be trained in the operation of equipment and the precision measuring tools necessary for the inspection of partsReeds job specifications to determine machine adjustments and requirementsObserves machine operation to detect work defects or machine malfunctionRemoves burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from partsReads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures to be usedAll other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice RequirementsSuccessfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skillsHas the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsThe ability to conduct one's self in a professional manner and to follow written policies pertaining to all practices in the workplace (i.e. safety, attendance, procedures, conduct, etc.) are considered to be an integral part of any job descriptionPrevious Machine Operating experience is a plusSuccessful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboardingWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation or preference, and pregnancy), age, national origin, religion, disability or genetic information, marital status, status as a veteran, or any other federal, state or local protected class or artificial barrier.
