Director of Policy Communications and Public Affairs

As the Director of Policy Communications and Public Affairs, you will lead strategic communications to advance our policy goals and enhance our public affairs presence. This role reports into the Chief Communications Officer and collaborates closely with the Government Relations team.RESPONSIBILITIESDirect communications for policy efforts, which includes development and implementation of global and regional policy communications strategies.Collaborate closely with the government relations, global office, and other association teams.Develop messaging, press releases, op-eds, blogs, speeches, and social content to communicate and advance policy goals.Manage media engagement and relations, crafting proactive outreach and directing rapid response efforts related to policy initiatives; acting as spokesperson as needed.Coordinate communications efforts with external partners, including advocacy groups, coalitions, government agencies, industry and related trade organizations, and other relevant audiences and partners.Build relationships with and ensure ongoing engagement with policy advocates, lawmakers, industry, policy-focused media, and other influencers to further the organization's policy goals.Prepare spokespeople for media interviews, policy meetings, and public appearances related to policy issues.REQUIREMENTS8+ years of experience in strategy communications, public affairs, or public policy-related communications.Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Public Affairs /Policy or related.Deep understanding of government processes, policy development, the media landscape, and their working relationships.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic communications initiatives focused on policy issues.Ability to translate complex policy information into accessible, engaging content.Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, including executive presence and confidence to share strategy and counsel with senior leadership a plus.Preferred experience in a communications position on Capitol Hill or in a policy role.Global Electronics Association is an Equal Opportunity Employer offering a competitive salary and excellent employee benefits.
