This is a temporary position involving various duties that permit exposure to the student's field of study and/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the student's education and meaningful preparation for future professional employment.Overview of Internship Program:The summer program offers paid internship opportunities at our home office in Chesapeake, Virginia. The internship program is a combination of mentoring, learning activities, and field work designed to give broad exposure to the inner workings of HVAC and Building Automation. This is a paid internship from May to August 2026. We transform commercial buildings into smart environments operating in Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, and Pittsburgh, PA.For more information visit us online at www.chesapeakecontrols.comKey ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesUnder immediate direction and under work guidance of field staff, assists and supports division(s) in electrical construction projectsPull and terminate wires to controllers, components, and devices using wiring diagrams, and installation instructionsInstall electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagram; experience with push up ceilings, hard lid ceilings, fire demising walls, floor to floor.Understand, and work from floor plans, blueprints, specifications, and schematicsSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseCurrent enrollment in a program leading to an Electrical, Mechanical or Construction degree or certificationExperience using basic hand toolsAbility to understand construction drawingsAbility to lift up to 50lbsAbility to climb on a ladderValid driver's license and reliable transportationComfortable working around a construction environment
