Data Architect

DescriptionThe Data Analyst / Data Architect is to transform, unify, and elevate the organization’s data capabilities by extracting, improving, and integrating data across multiple business systems. The role exists to ensure accurate, accessible, and timely data that supports operational reporting, executive decision-making, and long-term data strategy. Initially focused on hands-on reporting and analysis, the position evolves into designing scalable data models, pipelines, and enterprise reporting solutions that reduce manual effort, improve performance, and enable consistent insights across the business. Key ResponsibilitiesData Extraction & AnalysisExtract, analyze, and validate data from internal systems, including CMS applications and SQL Server databasesQuickly learn and navigate complex data structures, particularly CMSBuild and maintain Excel-based reports using ODBC connectionsPartner with business users to define reporting requirements and ensure data accuracyReporting & VisualizationTransition reporting from Excel to scalable platforms such as Power BI and Microsoft FabricDesign and develop dashboards and reports for various business units (Sales, Operations, Finance, etc.)Ensure data consistency, usability, and performance across reporting solutionsData Modeling & ArchitectureIntegrate and model data from systems including SalesPad and Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)Design and implement a unified data model across multiple business systemsDevelop executive dashboards to consolidate and transform enterprise dataSupport the evolution toward a centralized data platform (Fabric/Lakehouse/Warehouse)Data Integration & EngineeringBuild and optimize data pipelines using SQL and modern data toolsEnsure data quality, governance, and consistency across systemsIdentify and implement opportunities to automate manual reporting processesCollaboration & Continuous ImprovementCollaborate with IT, Finance, Sales, and Operations teamsTranslate business requirements into technical data solutionsRecommend improvements to data architecture, reporting, and analytics strategyQualifications4–8 years of experience in data analysis, data engineering, or data architectureStrong proficiency in SQL, including querying, joins, transformations, and performance tuningExperience working with relational databases (SQL Server preferred)Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, including ODBC-based reportingExperience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and visualizationProven ability to quickly learn and navigate complex data structuresPreferred QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Fabric or similar platforms (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, etc.)Experience with ERP/CRM systems such as SalesPad and Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)Experience designing data models (e.g., star schema, dimensional modeling)Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and data integration toolsUnderstanding of data warehousing concepts (Lakehouse/Warehouse architecture)Experience with data governance and data quality frameworks
