Supervisor – 2nd Shift
Full-Time, Regular • Nonexempt • $22.00–$30.00 / hour
Job Summary
S.I.C. Recycling is looking for an experienced, hands-on Supervisor to lead our 2nd shift production team in Riverton, IL. In this role, you'll oversee the Laborers and Operators on your shift, keep production moving safely and efficiently, and serve as the go-to person on the floor when questions or issues come up. This is a great opportunity for someone who knows scrap metal processing operations, leads by example, and wants to help build a strong, safety-first culture on the floor.

What You'll Do
Directly supervise Laborers and Operators throughout the shift, assigning tasks and monitoring workflow
Oversee production activity to keep the shift running safely, efficiently, and on pace
Monitor material flow and quality, and maintain accurate shift logs and production records
Train new employees and reinforce proper equipment operation and safety procedures
Enforce safety policies and address hazards or unsafe practices on the floor
Communicate shift updates, issues, and priorities to the Weekday Manager
Step in to operate equipment (forklift, shredder line, etc.) as needed to support the crew
Coordinate loading/unloading and material handling activity across the shift
Address day-to-day personnel issues and escalate as appropriate
Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly production floor
What We're Looking For
Prior experience supervising or leading a team in a production, manufacturing, or scrap/recycling environment preferred
Working knowledge of scrap metal processing equipment, including forklifts and shredder line operations
Ability to safely operate machines and equipment, and to train others to do the same
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to hold a team accountable
Ability to repeatedly lift at least 25 pounds
Ability to keep pace in a fast-moving production environment
Reliable, consistent attendance and punctuality
Sound judgment and problem-solving ability under time pressure
A team-first attitude and willingness to lead by example on the floor
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an active scrap metal processing facility, both indoors and outdoors, and may involve exposure to seasonal heat, cold, and other outdoor elements
Exposure to dust, metal debris, and odors typical of a scrap processing environment
Noise levels may reach or exceed 85 decibels; hearing protection is required for most of the shift
Required PPE includes steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other task-specific safety gear
Work is performed around heavy equipment, including forklifts and a shredder line
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods throughout the shift
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds repeatedly, and heavier loads occasionally with assistance
Ability to climb on and off equipment such as forklifts safely
Ability to work at a fast pace to keep up with production and shredder line speed
Ability to work overtime, including weekends or holidays, with advance notice as needed
Work Schedule
2nd Shift: 5:15 PM – 3:30 AM, Monday through Thursday.
This 4-day schedule gives you a built-in 3-day weekend, every week.

Pay
The hourly pay range for this position is $22.00–$30.00. This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base wage for this role; actual base pay is determined based on factors such as experience and qualifications at the time an offer is made. The total compensation package for this position may include additional bonuses contingent on personal and company performance.
