CDL Laborer/Operator
The CDL Laborer/Operator supports field operations by safely operating commercial motor vehicles and light/heavy equipment while performing hands‑on labor at job sites and on company property. Typical work includes hauling materials, assisting with site prep and cleanup, snow/ice control, landscaping/grounds work, small utility digs, and equipment staging. This role combines professional driving with physical labor and equipment operation in a safety‑critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Driving & Transport (CDL):
Operate commercial motor vehicles (CMV) such as dump, flatbed, water, or plow trucks (Class [A/B] as required) to haul materials, equipment, and debris.
Equipment Operation:
Safely operate light/heavy equipment (e.g., skid steer, mini‑excavator, backhoe, forklift, loader, compactors) for excavation, grading, lifting, snow removal, and material handling.
Use attachments (forks, buckets, brooms, augers) and hand/power tools (saws, compactors, jackhammers) as assigned.
Labor & Site Work:
Assist with site prep, trenching/backfilling, concrete/asphalt patching, erosion control, fencing, landscaping/grounds tasks, and general facility upkeep.
Stage materials; load/unload; set traffic control and signage; maintain clean, organized work areas.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all company safety rules and OSHA/DOT/FMCSA requirements;
Wear and maintain PPE; identify hazards; stop work and escalate unsafe conditions.
Support spill prevention, environmental stewardship, and proper waste handling.
Maintenance & Housekeeping:
Perform basic vehicle/equipment care (fluids, lubrication, greasing, blade/teeth checks); submit service requests.
Keep trucks, equipment, and shops clean and inspection‑ready.
Documentation & Communication:
Complete tickets, manifests, timecards, and equipment checklists accurately and on time.
Communicate job status, issues, and material needs to the supervisor; collaborate with crews and vendors.
