Junior Staff Accountant
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will support the organization’s accounting functions by assisting with financial recordkeeping, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Duties
Assist with maintaining the general ledger, including journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliation of accounts such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank statements
Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing financial reports and interpreting financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Contribute to regulatory reporting requirements and ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls
Help prepare financial statements and perform balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis activities to aid management decision-making
Assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules for internal and external audits
Use accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms to perform bookkeeping tasks and manage financial data efficiently
Participate in process improvements related to double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and internal controls
Collaborate with team members on special projects related to non-profit accounting, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law compliance or governmental accounting standards
Support payroll processing and review payroll-related transactions for accuracy
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; relevant internships or entry-level experience preferred
Familiarity with GAAP standards and basic financial concepts essential for success in this role
Prior experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero or Sage is highly desirable
Knowledge of SOX compliance procedures and regulatory reporting is a plus
Understanding of double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation techniques and financial statement preparation required
Exposure to non-profit accounting practices or governmental accounting standards is advantageous
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately
Excellent attention to detail coupled with effective communication skills for collaborating within a team environment

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
