We are proud to be recognized with the Great Place to Work certification for the second year in a row.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesProvides independent analysis of technical submittals, including but not limited to, shoring and falseworkReviews change orders, submittals, shop drawings and materials testing, surveying, RFI's, engineering drawings (such as shoring, falsework, post-tension, bridge removal), and prepares professional communications regarding samePerforms a wide variety of structure construction engineering, including but not limited to bridges, retaining walls, soundwalls, pump stations and buildingsWorks in conjunction with technical field inspectors and project team members to assure project goals are being metExecutes field inspection, structures related contract administration, change order preparationAdministers projects in the absence of REManages professional and technical staff and contract administrationMonitors and reviews contractors' construction schedulesPrepares and files daily construction reports, diaries, & other project documentsVerifies acceptability of material incorporated into the project and maintains material and inspection recordsAssists with recruitment and performance evaluationsPrimary point of contact with clients and approving agenciesParticipates in contract claims and general claim avoidanceCoordinates with contractors and agencies about different tasks and projectsRequirementsBS in Construction Management or Civil EngineeringCalifornia registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) requiredValid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver's record are required7 + years construction contract management experience related to bridge and/or structures construction projectsWorking knowledge of CALTRANS methods and procedures and municipal agency projects, as well as document coordination on federally funded projects desiredOther Required SkillsIs knowledgeable with construction methods and procedures, Caltrans and standard plans and specificationsInteracts well with other staffAble to work well with other people, contractors, agency personnel, the publicExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficient with computer and computer programs such as Word & ExcelProficient with engineering calculations and conceptsAble to evaluate project issues and changesPhysical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.BenefitsThe typical base salary range for this position is $180000 - $230000, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
