Trauma Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – NocturnistHours of Work: nights. Days of Week: varies. Work Shift: nocturnist.Location: Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, Mansfield, Texas.Work collaboratively with a team of six double‑boarded Trauma Surgeons, a nocturnist PA, skilled nurses, and other healthcare professionals who deliver outstanding care to our trauma patients.ResponsibilitiesTriage and run Level 2 trauma activations, manage acute resuscitations.Assist with LevelI trauma activations.Ability to perform procedures such as: EFAST exams, central and arterial line insertion, intubation procedures, bronchoscopic procedures, chest tube placement, closure of lacerations, assist in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery operative procedures.Round on a diverse patient population in the ICU, critical care, and trauma floors.Collaborate closely with the Trauma Medical Director and the trauma team.Contribute to the delivery of high‑quality trauma care overnight.Manage patients in the Emergency Department, ICU, intermediate care, and on the floor.Perform comprehensive and interval history and physical exams.Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic studies.Document findings and treatment plans in the EMR.Educate patients regarding diagnoses and treatment plans.Prescribe or recommend therapeutic procedures and medications.Refer patients to physicians or specialized health resources as needed.Assume additional duties as needed within the scope of licensure.QualificationsSuccessful completion of a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner master’s degree program (NPs must be AGACNP or ACNP certified).Active license or eligibility to practice in the State of Texas.Certifications (Preferred): ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) – familiarity or certification preferred, BLS (Basic Life Support).FCCS (Fundamental Critical Care Support) – optional but beneficial.Clinical and procedural experience as an APP (PA/NP) in Trauma, Surgical, ED, or Critical Care settings preferred.Strong surgical and critical care knowledge base.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to remain calm and communicate effectively in high‑pressure situations.Proficiency in EMR documentation and clinical decision‑making.Work EnvironmentFull‑time nocturnist position.
