Finance Director

Position Title: Finance Director Location: This is an onsite role at our riverside office at 751 Oak Street, Suite 200, Jacksonville, Florida 32204. Position Summary: Levenson Eye Associates is seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Director to join our team. The Finance Director will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of our ophthalmology practice. This position requires a detail-oriented and strategic thinker with a strong background in healthcare accounting. The Finance Director will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with industry regulations, and providing financial insights to support decision-making processes. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes. Maintain transactions in QuickBooks. Obtain W-9s from vendors. Review bank statements, credit card statements for accuracy. Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards. Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide variance analysis. Offer insights and recommendations to improve financial performance. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely billing and collections. Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly. Implement and maintain efficient billing and collection systems. Payroll Management: Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant tax and labor laws. Coordinate with HR to manage employee benefits and deductions. Enter payroll transactions into QuickBooks. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Provide strategic financial insights to support business growth and operational efficiency. Implement and maintain positive pay with the bank. Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with healthcare industry regulations, including HIPAA and other applicable laws. Work closely with external auditors for audits and address any findings. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations. Develop and document financial policies and procedures. Negotiation of Payer Contracts: Analyze existing payer contracts and identify areas for improvement. Lead negotiations with insurance companies and other payers to optimize reimbursement rates and terms. Maintain strong relationships with payer representatives and ensure compliance with contract terms. Additional Responsiblities Manage the billing department to ensure accurate and timely billing and collections. Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and handle all tax-related matters. Perform other duties as assigned by The Board. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferred Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a healthcare setting, preferably in ophthalmology Strong knowledge of healthcare financial regulations and practices. Proven experience in managing payroll, budgeting, and financial operations. Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with financial analysis and reporting tools. Strong knowledge of healthcare payer contract negotiation and reimbursement processes. Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of the revenue cycle and the critical role played by check in and check out personnel.
