Position
We are seeking to hire a full-time compassionate Lead Teacher to support our NC Pre-K program
(4-5 age group). Our ideal candidate has a heart and patience for children, understanding they can be unpredictable at times. Candidates that apply should be self-motivated, with the ability and commitment to lead and create.
Responsibilities:
● Attend workshops and training as defined and required by NC PreK and Durham PreK
Develops curriculum and other activities such as arts and crafts, designed to improve fine and gross motor skills.
● Encourages children’s emotional, social, and physical development, and positive self-concept.
● Monitor and set up the classroom to accommodate the needs of the children
● Cleans and sanitizes toys, furniture, and other equipment to ensure the environment is safe.
● Maintains records on individual children including daily observations, activities, meals served, and medications administered (when applicable).
Actively engaged with the children throughout the day.
Conduct parent/teacher meetings about the children's progress and concerns.
● Performs other related duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Attributes:
● Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and peers.
● Extensive knowledge of early childcare principles and procedures.
● Ability to relate to children and make the childcare facility an enjoyable atmosphere.
● Ability to think outside the box, and the willingness to be flexible to the individual needs of each child.
Education, Experience, and other requirements:
● B-K License or Pre-K License; or an Associate or Bachelor in Human Services with a minimum of 1 year in a teaching position (preferably early childhood education)
● Must pass the NC DHHS Background Process
● First aid and CPR certification is a plus
Physical Requirements:
● Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending.
● Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
● May come into contact with bio-contaminants periodically.
