Project Manager (Lab Systems Optimization)
The Lab Systems Optimization Project Manager leads complex enterprise transformation initiatives focused on laboratory systems modernization, workflow optimization, and operational standardization. This role will spearhead the expansion of Epic Beaker into a new facility while driving broader efforts to modernize workflows, processes, and supporting technologies across the enterprise.The ideal candidate bridges strong project management expertise with deep laboratory operations experience (including centralized laboratory services, workflow redesign, and systems implementation).Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid on-site)Pay: $80-90/hour on W2Key ResponsibilitiesEnterprise Transformation (35%): Lead enterprise-wide laboratory transformation initiatives, focusing on workflow optimization, systems modernization, process standardization, and operational improvement.Epic Beaker Expansion (25%): Manage the implementation and expansion of Epic Beaker across new facilities and lab environments, ensuring tight alignment between clinical, operational, and technical requirements.Stakeholder Coordination (20%): Facilitate collaboration across cross-functional teams—including laboratory leadership, operations, clinical staff, IT, and external vendors—to ensure successful project adoption.Project Governance (10%): Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, timelines, budgets, risk logs, status reports, and executive communications.Vendor & Integration Management (10%): Oversee vendor relationships, system integrations, testing, and deployment activities while proactively mitigating project risks and dependencies.RequirementsProven experience managing large-scale laboratory systems projects and operational transformation initiativesStrong understanding of centralized laboratory services, laboratory operations, and laboratory workflow optimizationHands-on experience supporting Epic Beaker CP/AP implementations, expansions, or optimization projectsExperience leading laboratory systems modernization efforts and process improvement initiativesStrong project management skills with experience managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, and riskExcellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skillsExperience working within complex health system environmentsKnowledge of project management methodologies including PMI, Agile, and WaterfallAbility to influence stakeholders and drive organizational changePreferred QualificationsExperience centralizing laboratory services across multiple facilities or business unitsPrior laboratory management or laboratory operations leadership experienceExperience supporting new facility openings, laboratory expansions, or greenfield laboratory projectsFamiliarity with laboratory middleware, automation platforms, instrument integrations, and third-party laboratory systemsPMP certification or equivalent project management certificationProven success leading workflow redesign and operational optimization initiativesEducation and CertificationsBachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience RequiredPMP or equivalent project management certification Preferred
