System Engineer
Job PurposeProvide research and development-based Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to Department of Defense (DoD) and federal agencies in the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure network and virtualization infrastructures supporting mission-critical operations.Project / Unit DescriptionSupport the fielding and sustainment of the Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) network environment in support of Marine Corps and coalition operations.Position SummaryJ2E is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to support multiple government programs as part of a team of technical engineers. This role involves planning, designing, developing, implementing, and sustaining multi-platform and multi-system environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and technically challenging DoD environment supporting the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide on-call and hands-on (“touch labor”) support for network sustainment activities.Deliver Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in the sustainment of Marine Corps and coalition networks.Support planning, design, implementation, and optimization of secure systems and virtualization architectures.Install, configure, and maintain servers, type-1 hypervisors, and virtual appliances.Support Active Directory, domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, PKI integration, and VMware vSphere environments.Monitor and troubleshoot system performance to ensure optimal functionality and security.Perform system hardening activities, including DoD STIG implementation and SCAP scanning.Utilize performance monitoring and management tools to maintain system security and operational performance.Collaborate with technical SMEs, engineers, and Program Managers to support mission requirements.Support CONUS and OCONUS operations as required.Required QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field from an accredited university.CompTIA Security+ certification required.U.S. Citizenship required.Active Secret clearance required.Experience supporting U.S. Marine Corps garrison and tactical networks.Must reside locally or be willing to relocate to the Camp Lejeune, NC area.Desired CertificationsMCSAMCSEVCPVCAPCISSPPreferred Qualifications5+ years of experience with Windows and virtualization architectures.8+ years of overall DoD experience.Experience installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft and VMware environments.Proven ability to configure servers, hypervisors, and virtual appliances.Experience with cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.Strong understanding of system performance analysis, management, design, capacity, and throughput planning.Experience with Microsoft Windows and VMware products.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in team environments.Demonstrated ability to install and configure operating systems.Additional Information : Working Title Systems EngineerWorking Title Level Research Engineer IJob Categories Information Technology, System Architecture, VirtualizationLocation Camp Lejeune, NCWork Type Research FacultyLab / Support Unit CIPHERTravel Requirement 10–25%Vacancy Type NewNumber of Openings 1Hiring Timeframe ImmediateClearance Requirement SecretClearance Preference SecretNew Graduate Resumes Accepted NoU.S. Citizenship Required YesEducation Requirement Bachelor of Science degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field
