Part Time Armed Transportation OfficerAIP is looking for a Part Time Armed Transportation Officer to work in Brownsville, TX. The Part Time Armed Transportation/Detention Officer is responsible for providing secure and safe transportation of detainees to and from authorized locations in the Los Fresnos, TX and surrounding areas as required.ResponsibilitiesPerforms duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, escort and transport of detainees as required by the contractExercises surveillance and control over detainees and maintains order and disciplineMake official entries in the transportation and processing logbooks that are legible and completeConduct a security and sanitation check of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officerPerform complete vehicle inspections prior to and following every transportation routeInventory all equipment and notate the results in the logbookReceive all authorized equipment and ensure that it is in proper working conditionYou are required to duty carry one of the authorized intermediate weaponsIntermediate weapons should be used in accordance with Service approved Use of Force policyEnsure that communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged batteryInspect, maintain, and care for authorized equipment including but not limited to:One approved semi-automatic pistol with appropriate duty belt and magazinesAll magazines loaded to full capacityHandcuffs/leg irons and keys, waist chains, black boxes, and restraint keysBallistic vests which must be always worn while performing armed officer dutiesMaintain state armed guard licensing and Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL)Qualify with assigned weapon at least twice per yearAttends to housing, feeding, and the physical well-being of detaineesEnforces rules and regulations of the detention facilityProvides care, custody, and control of detaineesRemoves detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security measuresGuards' detainees at deportation or exclusion hearings, during transport, while receiving medical care and when and other duties as assignedPerforms all work duties and activities in accordance with organization policies and proceduresFollows company-wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring as outlined in the Officer Handbook and other Company Safety PoliciesPerform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Speak, read, write, and understand EnglishConcisely and accurately prepare and write narratives of incidents and other written reportsPass and maintain required medical and physical testing requirements and standardsExercises judgment and uses discretion in dealing with first response to all situationsDemonstrate proficiency in methods and techniques of securing and controlling detainees by following required training, policy, and procedureMaintain physical fitness standards and proficiency with firearms issued and other special equipmentMaintain a professional personal appearance, calm demeanor, and discretion with sensitive informationPossess a high degree of integrity and accountabilityKnowledge of ICE PBNDS is a plusAbility to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles, with a cross-cultural perspectiveQualificationsUS Citizen and have resided in the U.S. for at least the last five yearsPossess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record)Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearancePass all pre-employment and random drug testsPass a medical examination and meet health requirements as a continued condition of employmentAt least 21 years of agePossess a valid state commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement.Possess a valid state armed security licenseOne year of Military, Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections experience demonstrating the following:Ability to greet and deal tactfully and professionally with the publicCapability of following and interpreting/understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules, and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and can compose written and oral reportsAbility to exercise good judgment: courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilitiesAbility to maintain poise and self-control during potential emergencies and unexpected situations that may involve mental and physical stress such as disturbances, altercations, fires, and building evacuationsStrictly maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement and CDL requirementsPhysical Capability:This position requires the candidate to pass a pre-employment physical, maintain physical fitness standards and be willing and capable of the following physical requirements:Ability to walk through all areas of the facility for tours of duty in varied (sometimes extreme) weather conditionsAbility to stand, sit, walk, and bend for extended periods of timeAbility to respond quickly during emergency situations, including jogging and fast walking to incidentsAbility to work without restrictions and limitations:Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionallyMust be able to push a wheelchair bound individual weighing up to 300 pounds and helping individual in and out of chairMust be able to bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, reach, and climb stairs, ladders and slopes periodicallyStrictly maintain physical fitness standards required for the position and for Department of Transportation CDL license holder throughout your employment under this contractMust be capable of performing CPR and rendering assistance when
