SPG acts in a holding company capacity acquiring best in class underwriting businesses to operate independently under discrete brands (portfolio companies).ResponsibilitiesAccuracy & Compliance Management Process surplus lines tax transactions and filings for all states within state-mandated deadlinesReview comparative late filing reports, improve accuracy, and request refunds of erroneous charges where applicableRun reports and verification of state surplus lines tax data to ensure accuracy of information and correct errors where necessaryCustomer Service & Communication Respond promptly to inquiries from surplus lines team, divisions, and third-party vendorsResolve transactions in question (TIQs, TAGs, flagged transactions) and escalate complex issues to Surplus Lines Tax Manager when neededMonitor state correspondence and maintain clear communication regarding transaction statusCommunicate changes in state regulatory requirements to manager and impacted SPG employeesSupport state audits by coordinating document submission and maintaining state communication filesTeam Development & Process Improvement Coach and mentor surplus lines tax analysts on processes, regulations, and best practicesConduct regular meetings with assigned filers to review performance, provide guidance, and ensure alignmentIdentify gaps in analyst processes and provide training as neededCross-train team members to ensure adequate coverage for critical tasks during absencesProcess & DocumentationCreate and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assigned states in collaboration with analystsEnsure filing documentation is properly maintained and audit-readyMaintain departmental logs for state audits, surplus lines tax transactions, and state correspondenceWork with management to identify efficiency improvements and develop best practicesAdditional DutiesAssist manager with researching potential state additions in InsCipherRespond to ResourcePro inquiries pertaining to issues in designated statesSupport divisions and third-party vendors with process issues and regulatory questionsExperience RequirementAssociate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience2+ years professional work experience in insurance or related fieldKnowledge of insurance industry, admitted vs. non-admitted markets, and surplus lines compliance preferredMicrosoft Office proficiency with an emphasis in Excel and OutlookExceptional attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPositive and professional attitude with a customer service orientationAbility to prioritize and execute tasks independently in a fast-paced environmentAbility to handle high volume workload while maintaining accuracyStrong team collaboration skills with the ability to mentor and coach othersDemonstrated ability to meet deadlines and service level agreements consistentlyCompensationDisclosure required under applicable law in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Washington states: The expected salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
