Under general supervision, delivers physical therapy (PT) services through evaluation of patient needs, goal determination and development of treatment plans in accordance with the Maryland Physical Therapy Practice Act. Assists with the overall operation of the Department.This position will also include a $5,000 sign on bonus!EducationBS in Physical TherapyExperienceNone required.2 yrs related experience preferredSkillsKnowledge of physical therapy theories, practices and standardsSkill in oral and written communicationSkill in organizationAbility to set priorities and schedule patients utilizing time efficiently.Ability to evaluate patient function, develop treatment plans and monitor patient progress.Ability to manage an average caseload of up to 3 patients per hour.Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills.Licensures, CertificationsCurrent Maryland license as a Physical Therapist.Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification).Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Evaluates the patient's functional status including:Review of medical history, diagnosis and physician's prescription.Observation and interview of patient/caregiver.Application of appropriate assessment procedures.- Determines short and long-term goals with patient/caregiver input; establishes plan of care based upon goals and evaluation results.- Implements appropriate therapeutic interventions, progressing treatment plan and teaching patients/caregivers activities to reinforce therapeutic interventions, providing/fitting appropriate assistive devices and recognizing patient distress signals which need follow-up- Documents evaluations/re-evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries; records data required for statistics, billing, and quality improvement activities as appropriate.- Helps patient accomplish treatment plan by administering manual therapy interventions where appropriate using equipment as necessary.- Utilizes the assistance of Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Techs and volunteers as appropriate; provides supervision to the above as required by regulations.- Communicates with multidisciplinary team members both formally and informally, discussing evaluation findings, patient progress and other pertinent information.- Communicates with patients/caregivers to allay anxieties, seek input and elicit cooperation.- Participates in performance improvement activities, collecting data and suggesting areas for improvement.- Completes necessary continuing education requirements for licensing purposes.Physical RequirementsAbility to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to seventy-five percent (75%) of work time when administering treatments, observing patients and maintaining records.Working ConditionsNormal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperatures and the likeConditions of EmploymentCurrent Maryland license as a Physical Therapist.Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification).All roles must demonstrate GBMC ValuesGBMC ValuesValue DescriptionRespectI will treat everyone with courtesy.
