Microsoft 365 Copilot DeveloperContract · Remote · Europe / South AfricaAbout the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Microsoft 365 Copilot Developer to deliver a focused, production-ready build for a UK SMB client. The engagement involves building a conversational Copilot agent in Microsoft Teams that retrieves content from an on-premise file share and curated manufacturer websites, converses iteratively with the client, and populates a Word document template before writing it back to the correct on-premise job folder. This is a technically interesting build combining modern Microsoft Copilot tooling with legacy on-premise infrastructure in a real-world production environment. You will work closely with the engagement lead throughout the build, with regular touchpoints and collaborative test sessions.Contract DetailsDuration: Estimated 60–98 hours over a 4–6 week engagement windowType: Contract (ad hoc); potential to transition to ongoing or full-time depending on client workload and pipelineStart: Within 2–3 weeks, subject to prerequisitesRate: Competitive hourly rate (commensurate with verified experience)Must-Have SkillsThe following are non-negotiable. Candidates without hands-on production experience in these areas will not be considered:Copilot Studio — declarative agents, Entities, dynamic URL variables, publishing to Teams, system prompt designMicrosoft Graph Connectors / Connector Agent — configuration against on-premise file sharesOn-Premises Data Gateway — configuration and integration with Power AutomatePower Automate — cloud flows inside Dataverse Solutions, Word Online (Business) connector with content controls, on-premise file system writesMicrosoft 365 Administration — DLP policy reconciliation, tenant-level configurationProven Copilot deployment experience in live production environments (deployment evidence required — years of experience alone are not sufficient)Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific production deployments involving Copilot Studio, Graph Connectors, and/or on-premise integrations.Note: The combination of Copilot Studio + Graph Connectors + On-Premises Data Gateway is a specific and narrow skill set. A general Power Platform background will not meet this bar.Nice-to-Have SkillsPower Apps developmentDataverse (beyond Solutions)SharePoint architectureExperience structuring unstructured data for Copilot readiness / data cleansingComfort sitting on pre-sales calls to provide technical sanity checksWorking PatternRemote — UK working hours overlap is essential (Eastern or Western European time zones; South Africa also considered)Communication via Microsoft Teams; daily touchpoint during active build phasesNo direct client contact — all client-facing communication is handled by the engagement leadInterview & Assessment ProcessThe process is designed to verify real deployment experience, not just familiarity with the tools:Stage 1 — CV & Profile Screen: Review against the technical brief. Only candidates with verified Copilot deployment experience will progress.Stage 2 — Technical Assessment (TestGorilla): A bespoke assessment designed to surface whether you have genuinely shipped this stack. Includes identity verification.Stage 3 — Technical Interview with Engagement Lead: A practical conversation covering your approach to the specific stack, on-premises challenges, and how you handle blockers mid-build.What We’re Looking for in a PersonTechnical skills get you in the room. The following gets you the role:Proactive communicator — you flag issues as soon as they appear, not at the deadline.Surfaces blockers early — problems get raised and solved together, not buried.Collaborative by nature — this build requires close working, not silent delivery.Comfortable with ambiguity — real deployments rarely go to plan; logical problem-solving under pressure is essential.Strong English communication — written and verbal, for direct daily collaboration with the engagement lead.
