Senior Electrical Engineer - (Remote/Hybrid)

The OpportunityTetra Tech is adding a Senior Electrical Substation Design Engineer to our Power team. This job can be performed anywhere in the US or Canada.Position SummaryWe are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Substation Design Engineer. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Job FunctionsAssigns and outlines work, advises on technical problems, and reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy.Reviews and prepares technical documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with technical requirements.Prepares proposal writeups and estimates based on client Request for Proposals (RFPs).Develops, approves, and coordinates work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met.Requires effective working relationships with colleagues, officials, and associates for the purpose of discussing design problems, explaining design features and specifications, and other project control criteria.Establishes and maintains client contacts to seek or provide technical information related to the immediate project.Analyses problems, organizes investigations, and determines specific design criteria.Makes commitments on acceptance of projects, completion dates, resources, and staff required to meet objectives.Is required to have knowledge of related disciplines/fields of engineering.Required QualificationsUniversity degree in Electrical Engineering.Over 10 years of work experience in Electrical Engineering.Experience in the study, technical knowledge, and design expertise of electrical distribution systems and industrial controls for a broad range of industries, with a heavy emphasis on utility substations.Knowledge in the design of medium and high voltage power distribution and transmission, including load flow, short circuit and grounding studies, transformer sizing and cable sizing.Experience preparing layouts, elevation views, installation details, grounding, lighting, cable trays and conduit layout drawings.Exceptional communication skills (client relations, team project communications, and proposal and report development).Experience in preparing technical specifications of electrical equipment, evaluating proposals, and reviewing vendor drawings.Knowledge of design of renewable energy facilities such as solar and wind farms.Experience with HVDC projects.Experience conducting projects using 3-D design software.Registered as a Professional Engineer in the United States.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit or stand as required and remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the workday.Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, including continuous operation of a computer and other standard office equipment such as calculators, copiers, and printers.Work Environment / Environmental FactorsThe majority of work is performed in a professional office setting.Periodic travel may be required and could involve limited exposure to extreme temperatures.
