Lead Security Technician

Layer One’s staff includes highly skilled, certified professionals, including an RCDD and other specialized industry experts, offering applicants a professional and technically focused environment.Role Description The Lead Security Technician is a full-time hybrid role based in the Washington DC–Baltimore Area. This role is responsible for leading the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of security systems, including alarms, access control, and related networked devices. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing and resolving technical issues, coordinating with project managers and engineers, reviewing site plans, and ensuring that installations meet safety, cybersecurity, and industry standards. The Lead Security Technician will mentor technicians, maintain accurate documentation, support system upgrades, and collaborate with customers to deliver reliable, secure infrastructure solutions.QualificationsStrong troubleshooting skills for security systems, networked devices, and related infrastructure.Knowledge of cybersecurity and network security principles as they relate to physical and electronic security solutions.Experience with alarm systems, access control, and video surveillance installation, configuration, and maintenance.Awareness of occupational health and safety practices, with the ability to work safely on job sites and comply with regulations.Prior experience as a security technician or related role in low-voltage or infrastructure environments.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work plans.Effective communication, leadership, and team coordination skills.Relevant certifications (e.g., low-voltage, security, network or vendor-specific certifications) are preferred.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites within the Washington DC–Baltimore Area.
