Join us as the Senior Python Developer - Rater Delivery to take on key responsibilities within a world-class actuarial function.How you will create an impactThe North America Rater Delivery Team within Global Pricing – Actuarial develops commercial rating solutions for underwriting teams within AIG, while supporting strategic initiatives within the actuarial team.The North America Rater Delivery Team works alongside International counterparts, Product Actuaries, Underwriters, and the other teams within Global Pricing (Modelling and Analytics, Pricing MI and Pricing Effectiveness) to provide a comprehensive approach to pricing and portfolio optimization.The team supports AIG's North America Commercial lines of business.We are seeking an actuarial professional to develop python based pricing tools. This unique role offers a range of responsibilities and provides the opportunity to engage and partner with actuarial colleagues, IT, Operations, the Data Office, and Chief Underwriting Officers. We are looking for an individual who is internally motivated, intellectually curious, can manage multiple priorities, and is driven to enhance existing processes.ResponsibilitiesImplement complicated actuarial models on AIG's future state rating platform: hyperexponential reNew (hx), a python-based commercial rating product.Standardize hx architecture patterns and enhance common modules to ease the rater build process.Establish training and upskilling of product actuaries to scale up the rater delivery model.Support Product Actuaries in developing, building, and enhancing pricing tools used across the North America commercial platform.Take ownership of projects utilizing Agile planning approaches, apply rigorous coding standards in reviewing the work of others and managing junior resources.Work closely with the Product Actuaries, Modelers, Underwriters, Business Leads, and Chief Underwriting Officers to implement efficiencies to pricing tools and raters.Operationalize profitable growth strategies in the front-end pricing tools by refining existing pricing models to align with portfolio insights, and improve pricing adequacy and risk selection.Assist in developing segment specific algorithm design, actuarial code review, testing and test reporting.Take ownership of projects utilizing Agile planning approaches, apply rigorous coding standards in reviewing the work of others and managing junior resources.QualificationsBS in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related area7 years or more in commercial and / or financial lines pricing preferredAt least five years of relevant experience, particularly in development and maintenance of python based systemsExpert in coding in Python – understanding of advanced coding techniques (abstraction, design patterns, unit testing) and CI/CD tooling and processes to ensure high quality resultsUsed to working in development teams and familiar with their practicesExpertise in Excel, SQL, VBA, JavaScript or other programming languages will be usefulStrong analytical and problem solving skillsWork well both independently and as part of a teamAble to lead projects independentlyStrong business and collaboration skills, and responsive to service needs and operational demandsEffective time management skillsExcellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office requiredBenefitsAt AIG, our people are our greatest asset.
