Our client, a large cloud computing company in Portland, is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer for a 12-month contract with extensive experience in designing and developing documentation for software APIs. In this role, you will collaborate closely with software engineers to produce clear, concise, and comprehensive technical content for a developer audience. You will be responsible for creating detailed documentation that helps developers integrate with APIs, web services, and software platforms. Your work will support both internal teams and external partners, ensuring that the technical documentation meets the evolving needs of the audience. This role requires strong technical writing skills, as well as intermediate knowledge of XML, Markdown, or HTML, and a solid understanding of software development, web services, and application security. This role will either be a fully onsite 12-month contract position in Portland, OR or remote working PST hours.Responsibilities:Collaborate with software engineers and development teams to gather information and create accurate API documentation.Plan, design, and develop comprehensive documentation for APIs, SDKs, and developer tools.Write clear and concise guides, tutorials, reference documentation, and examples for a developer audience.Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect changes in software architecture, APIs, and services.Ensure that documentation meets technical and style standards, making it accessible and user-friendly for developers.Manage multiple documentation projects and deliver them on time while coordinating with cross-functional teams.Organize and maintain documentation repositories, version control, and release notes.Review and test API implementations to validate technical accuracy in the documentation.Collect feedback from developers and improve documentation based on their needs and challenges.Qualifications:4+ years of proven experience writing technical documentation for APIs, web services, and developer tools.Strong ability to collaborate with software engineers and translate complex technical concepts into clear, developer-friendly content.Intermediate knowledge of XML, Markdown, or HTML.Familiarity with software development processes, including agile methodologies.Solid understanding of web services, network and application security, and software development principles.Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git) and documentation tools (e.g., Swagger, Postman).Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.If you meet the required qualifications and are interested in this role, please apply today.The Solomon Page DistinctionSolomon Page offers a comprehensive benefit program for hourly employees.
