Our expertise includes advanced research systems, maritime solutions, sophisticated sensor technologies and payload delivery capabilities.Job SummaryThe Assistant Controller will support the Controller in maintaining an effective system of accounting, asset, and operational performance controls for day‑to‑day operations and monthly financial statement preparation. This hybrid role, requiring 2 to 3 days per week in the office, will drive initiatives across key finance and accounting functions including AP, AR, Inventory, Payroll, Cash Management, and timecard management. Experience within aerospace and/or defense manufacturing environments is highly desired, as it supports effective navigation of industry‑specific financial and compliance requirements. The role is also responsible for maintaining the GL accounting structure and cost centers and, in partnership with the Controller, supporting all Government and Non‑Government Compliance requirements (including Sarbanes‑Oxley). Hands‑on knowledge of the financials is essential.Responsibilities And Tasks Support the coordination and preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements, quarterly reporting to the parent company. Assist and review in the preparation of the operating budget for the Company. Review monthly journal entries. Review account reconciliations, as needed, based upon risk profile of accounts. Support and direct the development and implementation of applicable policies, desk guides, and procedures for the Company. Properly reviewing and updating as assigned and required by such documents. Directly support the installation, maintenance and improvement of the accounting records, reports, and internal controls at the Company. Prepare and/or supervise financial, operational and contract analysis and general accounting practices in compliance with government requirements, corporate directives, policies, and procedures for the Company. Review, research and document technical accounting issues for GAAP compliance, as needed. Provide regular financial guidance to and interaction with other functions of the facility to improve operating results and measure performance. Actively participate in providing input and the sharing of ideas with Corporate financial/other personnel to promote and execute best practices throughout the financial areas of the Company; and evaluate risks related to performing these practices. Provide accounting/finance contact with parent company for annual audit, tax return preparation, insurance renewals, and certain legal matters. Work to ensure all assigned personnel meet established job requirements, and needed training is identified. May perform all supervisory functions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Develop accounting team of approximately eight individuals. Ad hoc projects as required.Education, Experience, License, CertificationBA/BS in business, with a major in accounting/finance is required; with 5+ years of accounting/finance experience. Active CPA license is highly desired. Strong Excel skills a must (lookups, pivots, indexing, sumifs) A master’s degree in business administration/accounting is a plus. Public accounting experience is highly valued. Experience with a current ERP system is necessary. Federal contracting experience is preferred. Manufacturing industry experience is a plus.Requires strong analytical, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Skills And AbilitiesU.S. Citizenship is required.
