CNC Machinist (2nd Shift)
CNC MachinistThis role focuses on setting up, programming, and operating CNC lathes and mills to produce precision components under minimal supervision. You will generate and edit CNC programs using CAM software, ensure parts meet specifications through careful inspection, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in line with 5S principles.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC lathes and CNC mills to produce parts according to specifications.Prepare CNC machines by installing and adjusting tools such as inserts, drills, and mills, and by configuring workholding and fixtures.Perform simple to complex machine setups and verify correct operation before and during production runs.Generate CNC programs using available CAM programming software, applying thorough knowledge of cutting feeds, speeds, and tool applications.Edit and update CNC programs at the machine control as needed and verify changes through appropriate inspection methods.Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and written instructions in English to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.Use measuring tools, including calipers and micrometers, to inspect parts and confirm adherence to tolerances.Apply knowledge of G-codes when programming and troubleshooting CNC equipment.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and company safety standards.Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining issues and improve processes.Support weekend shift operations as needed, including setup and operation of lathes and mills.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or GED.35 years of demonstrated CNC machining experience for Level 2 CNC roles.5 or more years of demonstrated CNC machining experience for Level 3 CNC roles.Proven experience writing CNC programs in a machining environment.Ability to program using Mastercam software.Proficiency with CAD and CAM software.Strong understanding of cutting feeds, speeds, and tool composition and application.Experience operating and setting up CNC lathes and CNC mills.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and instructions in English.Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.Ability to use micrometers and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions.Ability to work with G-codes when programming and editing CNC controls.Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to work under minimal supervision while maintaining high quality and productivity.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with CAM programming and CAD software beyond Mastercam is beneficial.Aerospace machining experience is preferred.Familiarity with 5S and continuous improvement practices.Comfort working on weekend shifts when required.Ability to perform complex setups on both lathes and mills.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.Why Work Here?This is a direct-hire opportunity that offers long-term stability and the chance to grow your CNC career in a professional manufacturing environment. The standard schedule includes second shift hours from Monday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM, with additional weekend shift coverage as needed.
