Senior Accountant
SENIOR ACCOUNTANTLocation: Irvine, CA 92612Essential FunctionsPrepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. This includes balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports.Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Monitor budget variances and provide explanations for significant deviations.Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data. Identify and address control weaknesses or deficiencies.Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations. Address audit findings and implement recommendations as needed.Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. Prepare and file tax returns and assist with tax planning strategies.Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, such as investment opportunities, cost reduction initiatives, and pricing strategies. Provide insights into key financial metrics and trends.Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting procedures and systems. Implement changes to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff on accounting principles, software tools, and best practices.Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.Perform various complex account analyses and reconciliation.Assisting the accounting manager as needed.Performs other duties as assigned.Competencies/SkillsStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.Strong attention to detail with the ability to stay organized and problem solve in a fast-paced environment Capable of multi-tasking and working with tight deadlines in mindAbility to articulate issues, problem solve and analyze with creative and outside of the box thinkingStrong communication skills (written and verbal) with internal and external partners; ability to convey findings in a concise and comprehensive mannerAbility to manage a working pipeline with multiple different product types at one timeEffective organization and time management skillsCapability to build trusting relationships internally and externally and elicit confidence by demonstrating reliability Team player with the ability to work effectively in a cooperative and diverse environmentCapacity to analyze processes, support change and think operationally and strategically to achieve business goalsAdvanced use of Microsoft Office SuiteEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA certification a plus5+ year’s progressive accounting experience Working knowledge of GAAPProficient with QuickbooksStrong excel skills preferredAccessibility:At Archwest, we will provide reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
