Position: Elementary Principal (Grades PreK-5)Campus: To Be DeterminedWage/Hour Status: ExemptImmediate Supervisor(s): SuperintendentPay Grade: Per Compensation ManualDays Employed: Per Compensation ManualPOSITION SUMMARY:Ensure every student receives high-quality instructionEnsure there are high-quality teachers and staff in every classroom throughout the schoolModel a consistent focus and personal responsibility for improving student outcomesEstablish and implement a shared vision and culture of high expectations for all staff and studentsOutline and track clear goals, targets, and strategies aligned to the district vision and school vision that continuously improves teacher effectiveness and student outcomesQUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:Master's degree in educational leadershipTexas principal or another appropriate Texas certificateCertified Appraiser for the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS)Special Knowledge/Skills:Working knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to evaluate the instructional program and teaching effectivenessAbility to manage campus budget and personnelAbility to coordinate campus functionsAbility to implement policy and proceduresAbility to interpret and effectively use multiple types of dataStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience:Three years of experience as a classroom teacherThree years of experience in campus instructional and administrative leadership rolesMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Instructional Leadership:Implement rigorous curricula and assessments aligned with state standards, including college and career readiness standardsHelp develop high-quality instructional practices among teachers that improve student performanceMonitor multiple forms of student data to inform instructional and intervention decisions, which contribute to maximizing student achievementEnsure that effective instruction maximizes the growth of individual students, supports equity, and eliminates the achievement gapHuman Capital:Select, place, and retain effective teachers and staffCoach and develop teachers by giving individualized feedback and appropriately aligned professional development opportunitiesImplement collaborative structures and provide leadership opportunities for effective teachers and staffConduct rigorous evaluations of all staff using multiple data sourcesExecutive Leadership:Remain solution-oriented, treat challenges as opportunities, and support staff through changesProactively seek and act on feedback, reflect on personal growth areas while seeking development opportunities, and accept responsibility for mistakesTailor communication strategies to the audience and develop meaningful and positive relationshipsDemonstrate the moral imperative to educate all children and follow the procedures of the district by adhering to the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas EducatorsSchool Culture:Develop and implement a shared vision of high expectations for students and staffEstablish and monitor clear expectations for adult and student conduct and implement social and emotional supports for studentsEngage families and community members in student learningCreate an atmosphere of safety that encourages the social, emotional, and physical well-being of staff and studentsUse a variety of student discipline techniques to meet the behavioral and academic needs of individual studentsStrategic Operations:Outline and track clear goals, targets, and strategies aligned to a school vision that improves teacher effectiveness and student outcomesImplement a year-long calendar and daily schedules that provide for collaborative team planning, regular data-driven instruction cycles, give students access to diverse and rigorous course offerings, and build in time for staff professional developmentAlign resources with the needs of the school and effectively monitor the impact on school goalsCollaborate with district staff to implement and advocate for district policies that meet the needs of students and staffSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervise and evaluate the performance of all personnel assigned to campus including, but not limited to, assistant principal(s), teacher(s), counselor(s), librarian(s), professional support staff, instructional aides, clerical support staff, and custodians.EXPECTATIONS OF MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this jobTools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by studentsMotion: Frequent walking and reaching, frequent standing; kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingLifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); heavy lifting (45 pounds or over) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students, and lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipmentEnvironment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (body fluids, bacteria, communicable diseases, etc.)Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; Ability to interact positively and proactively with students with behavioral concerns, communicate verbally and in writing, instruct and maintain emotional control under stressProfessional Dress: Dress must be clean, neat, in a manner appropriate for the assignment, and in accordance with any additional standards established by the supervisor and approved by the Superintendent. During work hours, visible body piercings (except earrings) will not be allowed.EVALUATIONS:Performance of this position will be evaluated annually
