Hy-Chi Department ManagerAs an Hy-Chi Department Manager, this position will be responsible for setting the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and overall profitability. You will coordinate the delivery of the freshest and best quality product at a competitive retail price. Additionally you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.Core competencies include partnerships, growth mindset, results oriented, customer focused, and professionalism. Reporting relations include accountability to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director. Positions that report to you include Hy-Chi Department Employees.Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining a positive attitude, generating a friendly atmosphere, setting department standards, smiling and greeting customers, assisting customers, recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, disciplining, and evaluating department employees, determining department goals, inspecting signage and displays, communicating with employees, handling and satisfying customer issues, figuring retail pricing, extending invoices, posting invoices, overseeing department bookkeeping procedures, analyzing sales and trends, conducting inventory, planning displays and promotions, ensuring proper temperatures and storage procedures, understanding and troubleshooting equipment, maintaining adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines, adhering to company policies, and reporting to work when scheduled.Secondary duties and responsibilities include ensuring competitive pricing, attending meetings and seminars, unloading trucks, placing product in storage, replenishing merchandise, filling displays, checking in delivered merchandise, working in the sales area, performing departmental duties, assisting in other areas of the store, and performing other job related duties and special projects.Supervisory responsibilities include instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning work of others, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, and selecting new employees. The position has the authority to approve employee discipline, recommend employee transfer, discharge, and salary increases.Education and experience required include high school or equivalent and over one year of related work experience. Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include problem solving, arithmetic calculations, composing correspondence, interpreting instructions, interviewing applicants, following technical manuals, and increased contact with people. Physical requirements include exerting force, visual requirements, and performing various physical activities. Working conditions include exposure to temperature extremes, dampness, equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, cleaning chemicals, and solvents. This is a fast paced work environment.Equipment used includes telephone, fax, copier, intercom system, kitchen utensils, wrapping machine, pallet jacks, garbage disposal, trash compactor, cardboard compactor, box cutter, computer, and calculator. Financial responsibility includes company assets, including equipment and merchandise. Contacts include daily contact with customers, employees, suppliers/vendors, general public, and occasional contact with local, federal or state regulatory agencies regarding inspections. Confidentiality includes access to confidential information including employee compensation, monthly results, quarterly inventory reports, sales and profit sheets, and warehouse pricing.The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $18.00 to $22.50 depending on experience.
