Test Engineer
Overview
In this role you will join a cross-functional team to automate and test WLAN technologies and MTAs in-lab. You’ll focus on in-lab integration, troubleshooting, and issue isolation to drive code fixes. The position emphasizes hands-on testing, test design, and collaboration with engineering and customer teams. You will contribute to test strategy and planning, enabling reliable delivery of WiFi-enabled devices at scale. This is a contract role offering exposure to telecom-grade testing and automation.
ResponsibilitiesExecute scripted test cases on WiFi CPE equipment using predefined test plans and requirementsDesign ad-hoc test scripts and test casesAnalyze test results and document data in ALM systemsReport and track defects; provide status updatesInterface technically with Comcast Engineering to reproduce and troubleshoot issuesParticipate in daily scrum; own next testing actionsPrepare Test Strategy and Test Schedule; contribute in planning meetingsEngage in test design, execution, and reporting activities
Key requirements5+ years of professional QA/testing experienceStrong understanding of RF parameters in CATV and WiFi environmentsKnowledge of DHCP/TFTP and DOCSIS provisioningExperience with IP routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, ISIS, BGP)CLI-based configuration scriptingCPE configuration files, service flows, and CPE troubleshootingOSI Layer 2 (MAC) related to DOCSISIEEE 802 LAN/MAN standardsExperience with WiFi products, LAB WiFi setup, and spectrum analysisKnowledge of WiFi interference and modem RF behaviorExperience with test planning/execution methodologiesWiFi protocol familiarityExperience with test automation tools such as JUnit, Selenium, QuickTest, or RationalExcellent communication with developersContract position in ICT/Telecommunicationsclear communication with developerscollaboration in cross-functional teamsproactive status reportingWiFi testingCPE testingDOCSIS provisioning
