Volunteer: Non-medical Hospice Volunteer - Direct Patient
Every life is precious and tells an incredible story, and we celebrate that each day by honoring our patients with genuine, personal attention. Everything we do, from the boardroom to our nationwide network of care centers, is centered on the best care possible for those who have entrusted us with their well-being and comfort. We work closely with doctors and other healthcare providers to coordinate services, and every patient has an individual plan of care that meets their specific needs.,Volunteers get to make their own schedule! Our Non-medical Hospice Direct Care Volunteer provides support to patients living with a terminal illness, in addition to their caregivers and family. Support is provided in a variety of ways, including companionship, socialization, and caregiver relief. There is no medical background needed - our Hospice volunteers do not interact with the patient in any medical or personal hygiene capacity (i.e., volunteers do not give baths, get the patient in/out of bed, or to/from the bathroom, give medication). Some examples of what a Direct Care Volunteer could doProvide companionshipSocialization and/or support to hospice patients and their families/caregiversReading to the patientPlaying gamesWriting letters to or on behalf of the patientAssisting with light household duties (watering plants, walking pets, washing dishes, emptying and taking out the garbage, etc.Volunteers make their own schedule!
