We do this by changing the stories that keep childhood poverty invisible and misunderstood, engaging people and communities to take action, and resourcing local nonprofits doing the work on the ground. To date, we've helped more than 50 million children and families live healthier, safer, and more empowered lives.We're looking for a Director of Marketing to lead the strategy and execution that brings this mission to more people.This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for building awareness, growing audiences, and driving engagement and fundraising across campaigns, content, live comedy events, and local activations.Reporting to the Chief Creative Officer, the Director of Marketing will translate Comic Relief’s impact strategy into a clear, cohesive marketing engine—one that harnesses comedy, culture, and creativity to reach new audiences and mobilize them in the fight against childhood poverty.This role requires someone who can operate across the full spectrum — from setting strategy to hands-on execution — with experience spanning commercial entertainment marketing and nonprofit or advocacy-driven work.LOCATIONCandidates should be based in the NY metro area. We are a hybrid organization and work three days per week in our downtown New York City office.What You’ll DoMarketing Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and own Comic Relief’s integrated marketing strategy across awareness, fundraising, and event-driven campaignsAlign marketing priorities with organizational goals, impact strategy, and creative directionServe as a strategic partner to the CCO, helping shape how Comic Relief shows up in culture and communicates its mission, i.e., brand, content, and communications work.Campaigns, Media & GrowthLead media strategy, planning, and execution across paid, owned, and pro bono channelsManage donated media and in-kind support, working closely with the Comic Relief partnership team, external partners, and agenciesDrive new donor acquisition, public ticket sales and attendance for events, issue awareness and education, and audience growthManage the trafficking, placement, and optimization of creative assets across paid, owned, and pro bono media channelsOversee media agencies and vendors, ensuring strong performance and accountabilityPartner within the department and across the organization to ensure goals are met and campaigns are delivered efficiently and effectivelyExecution & ManagementOversee day-to-day implementation of campaigns, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables stay on trackPartner closely within the creative team, across the organization, and with external partners to deliver cohesive, high-impact workBuild approaches and processes that enable smart testing, learning, and iterationBuild and manage the marketing and communications calendarBuild and manage campaigns, including placing and managing media, and crafting communicationsMeasurement & OptimizationDefine success metrics across awareness, engagement, fundraising, and conversionImplement campaign tracking and reportingAnalyze performance and translate insights into actionable improvementsEnsure marketing decisions are data-informed without losing sight of cultural relevance and creative impactWho You AreA strategic marketer who can also roll up their sleeves and executeEqually comfortable building a long-term growth plan and troubleshooting a live campaign in real timeExperienced in entertainment or consumer-facing marketing, with a strong understanding of how culture, talent, and content drive attentionExperienced in nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven marketing, with sensitivity to tone, trust, and impactFluent in media strategy, agency management, and performance measurementCollaborative, decisive, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving, creative environmentIdeal Background8–12+ years of marketing experience, with leadership responsibilityExperience spanning entertainment marketing (film, TV, comedy, music, live events, or consumer brands) and social impact or advocacy workProven success driving awareness, engagement, and conversion at scaleDeep fluency in paid media platforms, including hands-on experience with social and digital ad managers (Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, The Trade Desk and similar platforms)Experience using marketing automation such as HubSpot Marketing Studio, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or comparable platforms to manage campaigns, audiences, and performanceStrong command of performance measurement, attribution, and optimization across the funnelExperience managing agencies, partnerships, and complex stakeholder ecosystemsWhy This Role MattersThis is not a traditional nonprofit marketing role. The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $140,000 - $145,000. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: abilities, skills, work experience, knowledge, business needs, and market demands.
