Principal Embedded Software Engineer (Firmware Platform) – High-Ownership RoleWe’re hiring a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to take ownership of a full embedded firmware platform powering real-world, deployed hardware systems. This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to move beyond feature development andown architecture, reliability, and long-term technical directionacross an entire product ecosystem. What You’ll Do
Define and own theend-to-end embedded firmware architecture(RTOS, HAL, bootloaders, device infrastructure)
Lead the transition fromprototype systems to production-grade, scalable firmware
Build and manageOTA firmware update systemsand ensure fleet reliability at scale
Act as thetechnical authorityfor embedded systems — driving design decisions, debugging complex issues, and improving system stability
Mentor engineers and establishbest practices, coding standards, and architectural directionWhat We’re Looking For
8+ years of experience inembedded firmware development
Expert-level programming inC/C++in microcontroller or bare-metal environments
Deep experience withRTOS systems(FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar)
Proven track record of takingfirmware from prototype to production , across shipped products
Experience managingconnected device fleets , including OTA updates and failure recovery
Strong system-level thinking — ability to design beyond a single componentNice to Have
Experience withhardware debugging tools(oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG)
Familiarity withserial protocols(SPI, CAN, I2C, UART)
Exposure tosecure boot, device security, or safety-critical systems
Background in industries with real-time constraints (hardware, IoT, automotive, robotics, etc.)Why This Role
True ownership— you define the architecture, not maintain legacy code
Opportunity to build aproduction-grade firmware platform from the ground up
Work on systems deployed in the real world, not just prototypes
Strong compensation + equityf you’re interested in owning the “brain” behind complex hardware systems and building something from the ground up, we should talk.
