Individuals will be contracted as needed.Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for contracted, grant-funded instructors to teach Alabama Career Essentials (ACE) courses under the college's Workforce Development Division.Under general supervision, instructors will facilitate classroom, hybrid, and/or virtual instruction aligned with Alabama Career Essentials curriculum standards. The curriculum includes modules on workplace readiness, communication, digital literacy, problem-solving, professionalism, and teamwork. Responsibilities include instructional delivery, assessment of student learning outcomes, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with program guidelines.Appointment to this position is contingent upon successful completion of required training. This training must be completed prior to the start of employment responsibilities and is not eligible for compensation.Salary: Independent Contractor paid $23 / hourNOTE: APPLICATIONS WILL REMAIN ON FILE AND A PART OF THE APPLICANT POOL FOR 36 MONTHSEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesA. InstructionPrepare and deliver ACE curriculum focused on employability and workforce readiness skillsAdhere to approved ACCS course curriculum, training plans, and instructional guidelinesDeliver instruction in daytime and/or evening formats, as assignedIncorporate interactive teaching strategies, real-world scenarios, and multimedia toolsMaintain an instructional environment conducive to adult learningSupervise participants and maintain appropriate classroom disciplineIntegrate workplace safety, professionalism, and soft skills into instructionDistribute course materials and communicate course expectations at the beginning of each courseAdminister assessments to evaluate participant progress and learning outcomesMaintain timely communication with participants regarding progress and expectationsB. RecordkeepingMaintain accurate attendance and participation recordsSubmit attendance and required reports in accordance with supervisor requirementsMaintain documentation of participant progress and completionSubmit all required paperwork by established deadlines C. College and Program PoliciesParticipate in required orientations and training sessionsFollow all Lawson State Community College and ACCS policies and proceduresAdhere to FERPA regulations and confidentiality requirementsComply with ADA accommodation requirements when provided official documentation QualificationsBachelor's degree Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching adult learners in a professional setting is preferred. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly related to documentation and compliance.Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance.Ability to work a flexible schedule Essential Physical Skills:Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while providing tutoring services.Ability to use a computer and related technology for documentation and data entry.Ability to lift or carry light materials (up to 10 pounds).Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
