Business Development Manager – Service Projects (Commercial Mechanical)
We are seeking a high-performing Business Development Manager to drive growth within service projects in the commercial mechanical space. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional who combines strong sales ability with deep technical expertise and can confidently walk a job site, develop accurate estimates, and win work.
This is a direct hire opportunity offering a base salary starting at $100,000 + commission + car allowance.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategic business development plans targeting key customers and market segments

Identify, pursue, and secure new service project opportunities within commercial mechanical systems
*
Walk job sites and create accurate conceptual budgets and project estimates in real time
*
Lead the full sales cycle, from prospecting through project procurement
*
Prepare and present proposals, estimates, and client presentations
*
Collaborate with clients to advise on project planning and mechanical/plumbing system selection
*
Partner with architects and engineers to guide or lead design efforts
*
Communicate client expectations and project requirements to internal teams to ensure successful execution
*
Manage estimating, change orders, and equipment purchasing/buyout processes
*
Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and strengthen pipeline development
*
Build and maintain strong client relationships to drive repeat business
*
Participate in industry associations and networking events, pursuing leadership opportunities
*
Mentor and support less experienced team members
*
Contribute to business unit planning and continuous process improvement
Qualifications
*
7+ years of experience in Business Development within the HVAC / commercial mechanical industry
*
Strong ability to walk job sites and accurately scope and bid projects
*
Proven track record of driving revenue growth and closing service/project work
*
Advanced knowledge of commercial mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
*
Experience with estimating, conceptual budgeting, and proposal development
*
Strong understanding of financial models including:

Cost-plus

Unit rate / unit price contracting

Excellent relationship-building and client-facing skills

Strong time management, organization, and planning abilities
