acute care and emergency department experience preferredLicense: Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required.Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS or must be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained biannually thereafter.Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or Diploma in nursing).Description:This is a non-profit health consortium serving the health interests of residents.Employees are viewed as our strongest assets.It is a priority to aid in their professional advancement.Working in this organization is a fulfilling career.Generous benefits are offered, including retirement, paid time off, health, dental, and vision benefits.The registered nurse coordinates nursing care procedures for patients of all ages.Professional knowledge and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments are required.The ability to work independently in completing assignments is essential.Guidelines include provider orders, standards of care, nursing policies and procedures manuals, and hospital policies.Nursing duties include support to individuals and their families.Clinical decisions are made independently during the scheduled shift.Maintains complete accountability for all actions taken.Consultation with the appropriate manager/supervisor and/or ancillary department is required in difficult situations.Must be able to react in a calm manner and make sound nursing judgments in emergencies.Accountable for proper delegation and supervision of nursing assistants/technicians.Key essential functions include providing total nursing activities and supervising subordinates.Assures patient safety during working hours.Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel.Assists in developing and maintaining nursing objectives and standards.Participates in developing, implementing, and coordinating department policies and procedures.Interprets department policies and procedures as necessary.Ensures patients' rights are followed by appropriate personnel.Assures infection control procedures and techniques are strictly followed.Creates a warm and positive environment.Assists in training department personnel.Performs administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms and reports.Assists in evaluating and assisting care plans, as well as self-help instructions.Maintains confidentiality of patient care information.Evaluates emergencies and determines appropriate emergency measures.Makes independent decisions regarding nursing care.Completes required record-keeping forms.Ensures nurses notes are informative and descriptive.Notifies physicians of accidents and completes necessary reports.Maintains stock levels of medications and medical supplies.Reports needs to supervisors.Attends and participates in staff meetings and approved workshops.Gives and receives nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift work hours.Receives verbal orders from physicians and charts appropriately.Transcribes physician's orders to the electronic documentation system.Completes work requisitions for unsafe conditions or equipment repairs.Observes, records, and reports patients' conditions and reactions.Other duties as deemed necessary or directed.Physical Working Conditions:Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.Must cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.Must possess adequate sight and hearing functions.Must function independently and work effectively with patients and personnel.Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset individuals.May be required to lift patients, medical equipment, and supplies.Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.Current Registered Nursing license required.BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications must be obtained within 6 months and maintained biannually.Clinical competency assessment is required within 3 months of hire and every three years.High-risk competency is required within 3 months of hire and yearly thereafter.Experience:None required;
