Executive Underwriter (Alternative Risk)

At ICW Group, we are hiring team members who are ready to use their skills, curiosity, and drive to be part of our journey as we strive to transform the insurance carrier space.ICW Group has been named for ten consecutive years as a Top 50 performing P&C organization, offering stability, growth, and a focus on people.Key ResponsibilitiesUnderwriting ExecutionUnderwrite and price structured casualty deals in accordance with ICW Specialty’s guidelines, appetite, and profitability goals.Evaluate complex risks, coverage structures, financial credit ratings, and capital deployment strategies across various industries and clients.Manage underwriting workflow from initial submission to quote, bind, and policy issuance, collaborating with ART, actuarial, finance, and specialty & executive leadership.Ensure compliance with underwriting governance, audits, and regulatory requirements.Production & Broker EngagementBuild, maintain, and expand relationships with retail brokers and alternative risk practices.Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor, delivering responsive service and tailored solutions.Collaborate with distribution leadership to identify high‑value broker partnerships and growth opportunities.Represent ICW Specialty at broker meetings, industry events, and conferences, promoting the company’s brand and market presence.Continually evaluate and execute the ICW value proposition when soliciting and developing excess casualty opportunities.Portfolio ContributionManage a personal book of business with accountability for profitability and growth.Monitor performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed.Partner with actuarial, finance, and product leadership teams to ensure adequate pricing, risk selection, and capital deployment.Collaboration & CulturePartner with finance, actuarial, claims and IT to refine product offering and internal processes.Share market insights and competitive intelligence with leadership to refine strategy and appetite.Model ICW’s cultural values of collaboration, accountability, inclusivity, and growth mindset.Experience & ExpertiseBachelor’s degree required.Minimum 7‑10 years of underwriting experience, with at least 5 years focused on Alternative Risk or complex casualty placements.Insurance certifications such as CPCU are highly desired.Strong existing broker relationships.Proven track record of profitably underwriting complex casualty risks across middle market and large account segments.Strong technical skills in risk analysis, financial review and coverage.Leadership & Cultural FitProduction‑Oriented: Balances underwriting discipline with a proactive sales mindset.Broker‑Focused: Builds trust and long‑term partnerships with key partners.Accountable: Owns decisions and outcomes with integrity and transparency.Collaborative: Works effectively across teams and functions to achieve collective success.Innovative: Identifies creative solutions to complex risks and evolving client needs.Growth Mindset: Committed to continuous improvement and learning in a dynamic market.CompensationCurrent salary range: $152,611.77 – $273,178.28 (exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses).Base salary will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education, and location.BenefitsCompetitive benefits package, including generous medical, dental, and vision plans.401(k) retirement plan with company match.Bonus potential for all positions.Paid time off and paid holidays throughout the calendar year.Equal Opportunity EmployerICW Group is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
