Safety Basis Analyst 3 – Nuclear Facilities (DOE/LANL)Location: Los Alamos, NM | Hybrid (TA-55 support with required onsite presence)Compensation: $105–$115/hrSchedule: Flexible | Must be open to weekend support (Sat/Sun)Duration: 1-Year Contract (Strong potential for extension)Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship RequiredClearance: Ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance | Active clearance preferredWHY THIS ROLESafety Basis Analysts at this level play a critical role in ensuring safe operations within high-hazard nuclear facilities at LANL. You will directly support Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) efforts at TA-55 - helping maintain compliance, mitigate risk, and enable mission-critical work during a period of increased operational tempo. This is a high-visibility position working alongside top-tier professionals solving complex safety challenges in a national security environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and perform hazard and risk analyses for nuclear and non-nuclear facilitiesDevelop and maintain safety basis documentation including DSAs, TSRs, and safety assessmentsPerform USQ determinations and support ongoing facility compliance effortsConduct hazard identification, accident analysis, and control selectionCollaborate with engineering, operations, and safety teams to ensure regulatory complianceSupport increased operational tempo and evolving mission requirements at TA-55Pass Safety Basis Qualification Review BoardRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or Science12+ years of relevant safety basis or nuclear analysis experienceDirect experience with USQ processes and safety basis documentationStrong experience with nuclear facility hazard analysisDemonstrated knowledge of DOE/NNSA regulatory environmentPreferred QualificationsActive DOE Q ClearancePrior experience at LANL or TA-55 specificallyBackground supporting Hazard Category nuclear facilitiesAbility to quickly qualify and operate independently in a high-demand environmentPer diem / relocation support availableMandatory Requirements - Read Before ApplyingMust be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a DOE Q ClearanceBachelor's degree in Engineering or Science + 12+ years of experience - no exceptionsMust have direct Safety Basis / USQ experience in nuclear or DOE environments - candidates without this will not be consideredMust be available for onsite presence in Los Alamos, NM and flexible for weekend supportLANL (Los Alamos National Laboratory) | Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer | All postings current as of April 2026.
