Key Objectives for success:
Volunteer Program Management
Focus on the oversight and support of the Math Buddy Volunteers.
School & Student Engagement
Support collaboration with partner schools and encourage positive relationships between the program and the school community.
Program Operations Support
Ensure effective program operations through data collection, reporting, and communication.
Essential Functions:
Volunteer Program Management
Provide supervision for volunteers at school sites and ensure that volunteers are using program materials during tutoring sessions
Manage Math Buddy supplies at the school sites
Use knowledge of US Math Recovery Council’s AddVantage MR principles to answer questions and provide guidance to volunteers regarding curriculum and lesson planning
Give feedback to volunteers in daily session report folders
Ensure that volunteers are following school district and CCO policies
Encourage volunteer feedback and communicate volunteer input and concerns to Program Director
School & Student Engagement
Transport students to and from classes
Ensure students are always following school expectations for behavior
Communicate with school administration about student progress and concerns
Provide a middle-of-year student update to each student’s teacher detailing what the student has achieved and is continuing to work on in Math Buddy sessions
Assist Program Director and school district staff with student screenings at beginning, middle, and end of year
Assist in planning and executing family engagement events at the school site
Program Operations Support
Become an expert in CCO’s Math Buddy curriculum and resources
Attend monthly continuing education meetings for volunteers
Communicate with the Director about program progress at schools
Keep accurate records of student and volunteer attendance
Act as a substitute Math Buddy in case of volunteer absence
Assist program staff with volunteer events

Work Hours:
Must be available to work during tutoring hours, which differ from school to school and year to year. The position requires approximately 20 hours a week when school is in session (September – May) with additional hours for training and professional development as assigned by Program Director.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
Experience in mathematics education is preferred.
Experience supervising volunteers is preferred.
At all times, this individual must strive for improvement and growth—personally, professionally, and for the services they manage.
Applicants should have exceptional multitasking skills and be highly organized.
Ability to provide excellent customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with CCO staff, school staff, and volunteers
Excellent communication skills
Ability to direct others, have excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, always displaying a high level of professionalism.
Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision and on a deadline.
Proficiency using computers, including Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office software suite.
Applicant must successfully complete a drug screening, background investigation, and driver record check.
Applicant must become an approved volunteer in Springfield Public Schools and complete background checks required by the school district.
Must ensure that the confidentiality of children served is maintained as required by law.

Job Summary:
The Program Specialist will serve as a school site coordinator of the Math Buddy Program – an outreach of Crosslines Community Outreach (CCO). The Program Specialist must be proactive in managing site logistics, supporting volunteers, and ensuring smooth coordination between students, teachers, and program staff. To thrive in this role, the individual must be dependable, highly organized, and confident in managing multiple responsibilities in a dynamic school environment. They should be a clear communicator, a collaborative team player, and someone who finds fulfillment in helping students and volunteers succeed. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow district and organizational policies are essential.
