Counselor - Elementary
Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor to join our team at Jones Elementary. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of our students. This full-time position requires a proactive approach to creating a positive school environment, fostering resilience, and promoting mental well-being among elementary-aged children. Responsibilities - Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students to address academic, social, and emotional challenges. - Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to identify students in need of support and develop intervention strategies. - Conduct assessments to evaluate students' needs and progress, and adjust counseling approaches accordingly. - Facilitate workshops and programs on topics such as conflict resolution, self-esteem, and stress management. - Develop and implement school-wide initiatives to promote mental health awareness and positive behavior. - Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress in compliance with school policies and confidentiality standards. - Participate in school meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and community outreach activities to foster a supportive network. - Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling and mental health. - Provide crisis intervention and support to students and families in times of need. - Advocate for the needs of students and promote a safe and inclusive school environment. Requirements - Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. - Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor. - Experience working with elementary-aged children in a counseling or educational setting preferred. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff. - Knowledge of child development, mental health issues, and effective counseling techniques. - Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently manage a caseload. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain confidentiality. - Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community. - CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain. - Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment.
