Inventory Control Manager

SUMMARY:In this role, The Inventory Control Manager will be responsible for overseeing all inventory, including both company-owned (CLS) and customer-owned assets at Elmhurst and Elk Grove Village locations. This role ensures accurate and efficient inventory management by directing receiving, returns, put-away, storage, and recordkeeping processes. The Inventory Manager maintains compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory standards, while driving accuracy, accountability, and operational efficiency across all inventory functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee, supervise, and train staff in all aspects of inventory management in alignment with company policies and procedures.
Maintain and update all customer inventory records; make necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy.
Monitor and report on low volume/re-order point replenishments and shortages in the Warehouse Management System (WMS)/MRP.
Schedule and manage daily inventory transfers.
Ensure storage locations are being efficiently utilized to maximize capacity.
Reporting of building(s) utilization with recommendations to improve capacity.
Coordinate and facilitate monthly physical inventory counts.
Regularly review the returned goods spreadsheet; follow up with Account Managers regarding disposition if logs are outdated.
Oversee, supervise, and train receiving/returns personnel in processes and procedures.
Handle final disposition decisions for materials.
Collaborate with production staff to resolve inventory discrepancies or issues.
Interpret and apply policies related to inventory management.
Identify and record new item IDs as required.
Work closely with Warehouse Manager and/or Account Managers to resolve issues related to inventory receipts and inbound shipments, especially regarding damage or shortages.
Ensure proper put-away, security, and safety of all inventories.
Manage storage space effectively in coordination with inventory levels and product types.
Maintain and update all data accurately within the WMS.
Adhere to Food Grade, DEA, and QMS standards and procedures.
Ensure all staff handling owned and client inventory follow documented processes and procedures, including receiving, put-away, and administrative functions.
Secure and maintain appropriate storage locations for all inventory to ensure safe and efficient access.
Work in close partnership with the Production Manager to address and resolve inventory issues.
Provide leadership and support to direct reports; assist with problem-solving and task completion.
Conduct Client Physical Inventories as needed/required.
Ensure billing for all inventory related activities is properly captured.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in supply chain, Business, Analytics, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management, demand planning, or supply chain analytics.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with data visualization and query tools.
Experience collaborating across departments to drive operational improvements.
Experience with 3PL warehousing or fulfillment center operations.
Knowledge of statistical forecasting tools and inventory optimization methods.
