Precision Metrology & Final Inspection Specialist

Role OverviewReports to: Quality & Safety ManagerYou are the last set of eyes before parts leave the building. In this role, you own final inspections and support machinists throughout the inspection process—validating dimensions, confirming documentation, and ensuring every shipped component meets exacting customer requirements.A Day in the LifeYour day starts by translating customer contracts into actionable inspection criteria and comparing them to manufacturing documentation. You’ll move between first-article, in-process, and final dimensional checks—running CMM programs, using precision hand tools, and documenting results per defined procedures. Along the way, you’ll calibrate and maintain measurement assets, keep calibration dates current (for employee, customer-supplied, and company-owned devices), and perform preventive maintenance on inspection equipment.Before product ships, you review and complete all required documentation, certifying that every requirement is satisfied. When something is off spec, you process nonconforming product and assist in root cause determination per standard work. You also share your expertise by helping train teammates, conduct internal 6S audits on schedule, and keep an organized, clean, and safe work area aligned with 6S and safety standards. Throughout the shift, you accurately complete job-related paperwork and production reporting to capture time, attendance, and inventory. You comply with all safe practices, policies, and regulations—and handle other duties as assigned.Key ResponsibilitiesInterpret customer contract requirements; compare to manufacturing documentation to ensure obligations are identified and met.Execute first article, in-process, and final inspections using calibrated equipment; document results per process.Calibrate and maintain precision measuring devices per work instructions; ensure calibration due dates remain current for all assets (employee, customer provided, and company owned).Review and complete shipping documentation to certify compliance with all customer and internal requirements.Process nonconforming product and assist in root cause analysis per standard work.Train fellow employees to develop inspection capability across the workforce.Establish correct inspection criteria from customer specifications.Perform preventive maintenance on inspection equipment.Complete all job-related paperwork and production reporting for accurate time, attendance, and inventory records.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace using 6S guidelines; complete internal 6S audits as scheduled.Comply with all safe practices, policies, and regulations.Perform other duties as assigned or requested.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.Minimum 4 years of experience in Quality Control or Machining.Knowledge of manufacturing methods and logistics administration required.Hands-on experience with optical comparator and profilometer required.Advanced blueprint reading with strong GD&T and familiarity with military specifications.Lean manufacturing and quality system experience preferred (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, and AS9100D preferred).CMM operation and troubleshooting required; Zeiss Calypso preferred.Experience with ERP and quality software interfaces preferred.Basic computer literacy and strong math background.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Team player who enjoys challenging situations.Core ProficienciesGD&TQuality inspection experienceAS9100Precision measurement & hand metrologyAdvanced inspection & gage measurementTools & TechnologiesCoordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) — ZeissCalipers and MicrometersOptical Comparator and Profilometer
