Sports Checkout is building technology-driven tools to support custom sportswear design, ordering, and fulfillment.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role for a Backend AI Engineer located in Media, PA. The engineer will help build and maintain backend systems for an AI-powered custom T-shirt and sportswear design platform. The role involves developing APIs, integrating AI models for text and image generation, managing design assets, working with databases and cloud storage, and ensuring reliable backend workflows for image editing, customisation, and order processing.The engineer will collaborate with product, design, and business teams to create scalable software solutions that support personalized sportswear and event merchandise.QualificationsStrong experience in backend software development using PythonExperience building REST APIs and backend servicesExperience integrating AI models or APIs such as OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, or similarUnderstanding of AI use cases such as slogan/text generation, image generation, and image editingExperience with databases such as PostgreSQL or similarExperience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, CloudWatch/Metrics, or similarAbility to work with image/design assets, file storage, and backend processing workflowsStrong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work collaboratively in an on-site startup/business environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with AI-powered design tools, e-commerce, sportswear, merchandise, or print-on-demand platformsFamiliarity with image processing, background removal, or design file generationBasic understanding of frontend integration is a plus, but not required
