BENTON HARBOR AREA SCHOOLSJOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: Varsity Girls Basketball Coach (Hired through EduStaff)REPORTS TO: Athletic DirectorLOCATION: Benton Harbor High SchoolJOB SUMMARY:The BHAS athletic coaches promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Varsity Girls Basketball Coach provides support for the team and works closely with the other coaching staff members and administration of the school.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School DiplomaMinimum of High School participation in the sportExperience in coaching in the sportAbility to work with students PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:College playing experience is a plus. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate and supervise the Varsity Girls Basketball program and team.Promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.Design a training program and game program.Encourage multi-sport athletesProvide training rules to all athletes.Understand and follow MHSAA policies, rules, and guidelines at all times.Be a positive role model and mentor to student athletes.Evaluate all coaches in the programAttend all MHSAA, athletic department, and league meetings as neededPromote programs of teamwork and sportsmanship.Design training, practice, and team programsManage and submit all transportation trips for away events.Coordinates all out-of-season team workoutsOrganize and supervise all practices and meets to ensure that the program is properly managedEnsure that all athletic activities conform to the BHAS Athletic Handbook.Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.Work effectively with booster clubs and other community organizations, if applicable.React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, grade policies, and rules of behaviorEnsure the continual supervision of student-athletes on the court, in conditioning, and in the locker/shower room.Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniquesSupport the value of education.Other duties as assigned by the Athletic DirectorTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Stipend position.
