Job Details Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,720 – $1,820 (competitive travel nurse pay) Location: Columbus, OH 43210 — Columbus healthcare jobs, Ohio travel nursing Setting: 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit, Family-Centered Care, Mother-Baby Unit Contract Duration: 13 weeks (June 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026) Shift: Night, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30) — Postpartum RN night shift Hours per Week: 36 Patient Ratios: 3-4 dyads (6-8 patients) per nurse — couplet care experience preferred Parking: Multiple affordable and convenient parking permits available for travelers Job Requirements Minimum 2 years of postpartum or mother-baby RN experience Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at submission) — Ohio nursing jobs BLS certification (AHA) IV certification with demonstrated IV start skills Labor & Delivery experience required EPIC charting experience (electronic medical records) Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program Ability to float to units of similar acuity (antepartum, L&D) as needed Must pass EKG exam prior to start (telemetry interpretation required) Two professional references (one from manager/director or formal leadership) Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only) Urgent fingerprinting process required for onboarding Preferred: Previous travel nursing experience and prior mother-baby travel assignments Responsibilities Provide comprehensive postpartum care to mothers and newborns, including care after vaginal and cesarean deliveries Perform newborn assessments, cord care, metabolic screening, and phototherapy as indicated Administer medications safely, including IV antibiotics, heparin, insulin drips, antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, and opioids Monitor and manage postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, wound infections, and other postpartum complications Teach and support breastfeeding, lactation basics, discharge instructions, circumcision care, and thermoregulation Provide care for NAS infants, large-for-gestational-age, and low birth weight infants Perform pain and bladder assessments, Foley catheter insertion, and fundus/lochia/perineum care Utilize electric and manual breast pumps and provide couplet care for mother-newborn dyads Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services Float to antepartum and other units within the organization as needed This Columbus travel nurse position is ideal for postpartum RNs seeking meaningful clinical experience in a supportive mother-baby environment.
