*Program Assistant* *Location:* Houston, TX *Organization:* Noah’s House – Residential Community for Adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) *About Us:* Noah’s House is a 24/7 residential community dedicated to helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live full, independent, and engaged lives. Our team is passionate about creating an environment where residents are respected, supported, and encouraged to grow. *Position Overview:* Noah’s House Program Assistants provide direct support to up to 50 residents by coaching and guiding them toward independence in activities of daily living, personal health and hygiene, budgeting, leisure skill development, and coping skills. This role is not passive care; it is active coaching. Program Assistants are responsible for supporting residents in building independence by maintaining structure, reinforcing expectations, and holding residents accountable to their personal goals. Staff are expected to prompt, guide, and document, not complete tasks on behalf of residents who are capable. .*Key Responsibilities* * Assist residents with daily living and social skills using a coaching-based approach, ensuring each resident functions at their highest level of independence. Provide prompts, reminders, and guidance aligned with individual goals. * Consistently implement resident-specific independence goals, behavioral plans, and support strategies. Reinforce expectations, follow through on consequences, and document progress, successes, and concerns. * Support residents in maintaining structured routines, including waking on time, attending meals, medication times, work schedules, and activities. This includes prompting residents, following up when expectations are not met, and accurately tracking and documenting participation (e.g., on time, prompted, refused). * Conduct routine room checks and coach residents on maintaining clean, organized living spaces. Address concerns directly with residents and document outcomes in alignment with program expectations. * Transport residents to work, medical appointments, shopping trips, community outings, and other personal appointments as assigned, always adhering to safe driving rules and organizational policies. * Ensure the environment is clean, safe, and secure at all times. Regularly sanitize communal areas and report any safety or maintenance concerns promptly. * Witness and document residents’ self-administered medications in accordance with policy. * Perform routine laundry services while encouraging and coaching residents to participate in their own laundry tasks whenever appropriate. * Facilitate and lead group activities and programming using provided guides, including social, recreational, educational, and skill-building sessions. * Maintain accurate, real-time documentation, including participation tracking, behavioral notes, and required reports. Communicate relevant updates to supervisors and team members. * Be flexible and available for special occasions and schedule changes as needed. Support team members and step into additional responsibilities when required. * Consistently display and model Noah’s House core values in all interactions and duties. * Maintain an environment that promotes harmony, comfort, respect, and accountability for all residents. * Cooperate fully and honestly with any investigation conducted by Noah’s House or regulatory entities. * Participate in all required training and professional development. * Perform other duties as assigned by management. *Qualifications:* * Must be at least 21 years old * Valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record * Ability to pass a criminal background check * Practical oral and written English communication ability * Ability to safely operate a multi-passenger vehicle (e.g., van) * Strong verbal and written communication skills in English * Basic computer skills (email, documentation, and communication platforms) * Ability to follow policies, procedures, and structured schedules * Strong time management and organizational skills * Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving in real-time situations * Ability to de-escalate situations and respond effectively to resident needs and behaviors * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Ability to maintain professionalism, reliability, and accountability * Ability to engage respectfully and effectively with individuals of varying abilities * Ability to remain calm and responsive in high-pressure or emergency situations * Ability to meet physical demands of the position (standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25–50 lbs) * Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed * Commitment to upholding Noah’s House values, including dignity, respect, and promoting independence * Ability to manage schedules, document activities, and maintain accurate records in real-time * Must be receptive and responsive to supervision and professional development * Must maintain confidentiality regarding resident and organizational information * Ability to de-escalate situations and respond effectively to resident needs and behaviors * Ability to respond to emergencies quickly and safely in an appropriate manner that ensures the safety of the residents * Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure and during challenging situations * Ability to build trust and positive relationships with residents and team members * Ability to manage schedules, document activities, and maintain accurate records in real-time * Must be receptive and responsive to supervision and professional development * Must maintain confidentiality regarding resident and organizational information *Why Join Us?* At Noah’s House, you’ll make a direct impact on the lives of residents by helping them reach their full potential. Shifts are structured to support resident routines and may include extended shifts and a shorter supplemental shift to meet 40 hours per week.
