Job ResponsibilitiesJob ResponsibilitiesThe South Carolina State Election Commission is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Training and Public Services. This executive-level position oversees statewide election training, public information, voter outreach, communications, and operational support initiatives for the agency.This position serves as a key member of executive leadership and provides strategic direction related to election administration, public engagement, organizational effectiveness, and agency operations. The selected candidate will work collaboratively across divisions to support statewide election initiatives while ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal election laws and agency policies.Key Responsibilities IncludeProviding executive oversight for statewide training, voter outreach, public information, and operational support programs.Developing strategic initiatives, operational goals, and policy recommendations to improve organizational effectiveness and election administration efforts.Directing public communications, media relations, voter education campaigns, outreach efforts, and digital communications initiatives.Overseeing statewide election training and certification programs for election officials, stakeholders, and agency personnel.Providing operational guidance and compliance oversight regarding election laws, procedures, and best practices.Conducting research and analysis related to election administration, public engagement, and operational improvements.Assisting with the development and implementation of agency policies, procedures, strategic plans, reports, and statewide initiatives.Supervising professional, technical, and administrative staff responsible for training, communications, outreach, and operational support services.Serving as Deputy Director of the agency and performing additional executive-level responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.Minimum And Additional RequirementsA bachelor's degree and relevant program management experience.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of election administration principles, public sector operations, and organizational management.Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.Experience managing public outreach, communications, training, or operational programs.Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.Experience supervising professional and administrative staff.Ability to prepare reports, presentations, and executive-level recommendations.Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.Additional CommentsThe South Carolina State Election Commission is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions including, but not limited, to lactation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.Supplemental questions are considered part of your official application.
